I think about the energy infrastructure that was built in the 30s and early 40s - the hydro dams, the transmission lines to bring electricity throughout the countryside, even the freeway system... What's the equivalent now? Solar power stations, smart electricity grid, energy efficient transport links, etc etc. There are many parallels.
